I've been to The Hilltop for lunch or dinner about 10 or 15 times since they reopened under new ownership. In my opinion, this restaurant has re-emerged as one of the top places in the area to eat because of their great food and excellent service. I can't wait to try their Sunday breakfast.

As we have become more culturally homogenized over the last 50 or so years, some of this country's most distinctive regional cuisines and dishes have started to disappear. I have noticed this especially in the middle of the country. Hilltop Inn is an oasis of traditional Ohio River Valley cuisine in the face of this culinary recession, offering unique regional dishes such as burgoo and fried brain sandwiches along with other local favorites.

The experience this restaurant just keeps getting better and better. After a short closure and a very slight remodel the atmosphere here is the same but with a little bit of a brighter feel. The food is always was excellent the photos that I posted or the brain sandwich and the pork balls. This was the first time I've had the pork balls I highly recommend them as well as the cheese cubes which now come and cheddar or pepper jack. The staff here was excellent and friendly and very helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough one of the awesome hidden gems here in Evansville.

I was looking forward to trying the famous Jumbo Brain Sandwich and it didn't disappoint. It was delicious and I will be back for more. The German Fries I ordered as my side were so perfectly cooked, and the fried mushrooms we ordered as an appetizer were golden fried and absolutely perfect! My spouse got the fried cod and hot German potato salad and it was spot on as well. We had a couple fishbowls of Amber Bock on draft and it was Ice Cold! I can't wait to go back and stuff my face with more good food from the Hilltop Inn.
